This consumer's guide to the Fair Credit Reporting Act summarizes for consumers their basic rights under the act. There are many self-help steps which a consumer may take to assure that his or her credit reports are accurate. This guide is intended to inform consumers about what they may do on their own to protect their own credit histories and reputations.
